8.  History

The current Uradeln 21^st is the third regiment to bear that name because the prior two were virtually annihilated during extraordinary actions while defending the Imperium of Man.  (Historical accounts of the prior two Uradeln 21^st Regiments to come later.)

3 April 2009:  Elements of 1^st Company, 1^st Battalion, The Uradeln 21^st Regiment, alongside the forces of a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes, fought victoriously against Chaos Marines in the new Regiment's very first engagement.  The Uradelns held down one-third of the battlefield virtually on their own with just one quarter of the total forces of the joint Imperial Force.  They destroyed one Chaos Defiler (part monster, part vehicle), captured one Chaos transport vehicle, killed one squad of Khornate Berserkers (10), two Nurglite Terminators, and 4 traitor Astartes of another Chaos squad (the remaining heretics from that squad were the only ones to escape from the battle).  Our casualties:  seven Infantrymen and one crewman from a Las cannon.  Of the casualties, three died, two were medically discharged, and three were returned to action.
