3 September 2010: Uradelns and Caladanii defeat Plague Marines

3 September 2010:  Bravo Company, 3rd battalion, under Captain Ratliff won a glorious victory over a large force of Plague Marines!  The Archenemy has grown desperate as weeks of attrition have seen the numbers of plague-slain rapidly diminished even as additional regiments of Imperial Guard continue to arrive on Malis.  Thus, the Enemy has attempted to reinforce its failing zombies.  The Imperial Navy has dealt out harsh punishment to the Chaos ships and reported that most of the reinforcing Chaos troops have been wiped out in orbit. 

The Manticore "Thunderous Applause" exhausted its rockets and nearly emptied its turret magazines, holding its ground even as Chaos Terminators and a foul, twisted dreadnought closed, destroying its escort Leman Russ "Secundus Reiksguarde."  When it looked like they would finally be overrun a patrol group from the Caladan 101st arrived and bolstered their flanks, pulling the Terminators away, and allowing "Primoris Reiksguarde" to reduce the dreadnought to a smoking wreck.  The enemies heavy bolters began to take a toll on the Company, and the Caladaniis requested reinforcements. Their answer tore out of orbit, an elite cadre of Caladanii stormtroopers, "The Wolves of Nidhog" slammed into enemy lines on grav-chutes. They quickly eliminated the fire-support team and then engaged the main force.  On the right flank, Commissar Raege and her HUG Platoon engaged several enemy units attempting to silence the Company's own heavy guns.  They held the line for several hours, allowing the heavy guns to punish the enemy for their arrogance.  At midday they finally cleared their zone and began to advance, engaging more hostiles and forcing them to retreat before their righteous fury!  Captain Ratliff personally killed the final terminator after they had forced the main Caladanii platoon to fall back and had resumed their attack. Even with the battalion's gains secure the battle hung in the balance, until the vendetta Red Queen flew out of the setting sun, raking the enemy lines with lascannons, and finally settling over the enemy command center.  Bravo Company Veterans rappelled down and quickly set demolition charges to destroy the building!  The explosion was visible for miles.  The few enemies who survived were quickly cut down by furious las-fire and incandescent melta-streams.  With their command in disarray the remaining foes fell back and Bravo Company has consolidated onto their objectives, successfully securing essential infrastructure for the Imperial war-effort!
