26 August 2011

26 August 2011:  Glorious victory for our valorous Uradeln guardsmen!  Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion, under Captain Kipton Burba smashed the Chaos foe on the outskirts of Targaryen Hive, preventing the Enemy relief force from making any headway.  The Enemy attempted to roll over our stalwart infantry using their infernal metal boxes, and Commissar Medovich momentarily lost control over 2nd Platoon (HUG) on the left flank, despite executing a sergeant on the spot in an attempt to maintain discipline.  Fortunately, Captain Burba intervened and ordered them back into the fight, and this time the men did their duty and charged into close combat and slaughtered the traitor Astartes to the last man, though not in time to save their platoon leader, Lieutenant Swanson, who died heroically.  Meanwhile, 3rd Platoon (HUG) under Lieutenant Sibel, fought a frenzied battle in the center.  All of the men died but their sacrifice prevented the enemy from reaching our armor, artillery, and command units.  Our vehicles and flying machines destroyed all of the foe’s metal boxes and laid waste to the enemy infantry.  Victory for Uradel and for the Imperium!

12 August 2011

12 August 2011:  Glorious victory for Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, under Captain Ratliff!  While pursuing a villainous traitor north of Targaryen Hive, the Uradelns located an enemy defector working his way to Imperial lines.  Chagrined at this, the Enemy launched a brutal attack to both slay him and protect the traitor!  The battle opened with Chaos Sorcerers conjuring up devious Warp rifts close to Imperial lines to allow their Warp Spawns to close into melee range quickly.  Seeing this, Captain Ratliff ordered a brilliant counter-attack, the 'Red Queen,' and another vendetta supporting the attack moved up and deployed Bravo's veterans, while 1st Platoon HUG, under Commissar Raege advanced at full pace. Both Warp rifts were shut down, with only a single unit of Spawn able to slip through.  These Warp freaks were swiftly crushed under Imperial boots!  With their devious plans thwarted, the enemy had no choice but to attack Bravo through the outlying settlements.  Their march, unorganized and slow, was subjected to relentless bombardment from Bravo's Masters of Ordinance and the near legendary 'Roaring Ovation.' Their monsters and brutal close combat elites managed to reach the lines in strength, but heavy weapons and 2nd Platoon HUG HW slaughtered them in a vicious melee!  After a lascannon barrage that reduced a vehicle to a smoking heap, Captain Ratliff spotted the traitor crawling from the wreckage. With a word, a second Lascannon team spread him across twenty meters of rockcrete. The only losses of the battle were a number of Bravo veterans who had heroically given their lives to close the rifts, and the vendetta 'Sacred Duty,' whose wing was sheared off by Warp energies just after depositing its veterans.

Captain Nathaniel Ratliff has now been promoted to the rank of Major and Colonel Sir Zeller has requested the Departmento Munitorum that Major Ratliff be awarded The Macharian Cross for his numerous displays of tactical and strategic brilliance over the course of many campaigns!

5 August 2011: Street Fighting in the the Workers' Hab Blocks

5 August 2011:  Imperial Forces have claimed the Workers' Hab District of Targaryen Hive after driving the Traitor Rhaegar PDF back during heavy street fighting.  The Workers' Hab District lies just inside the ruins of The Dragon Gate, which our valiant soldiers recently breached in order to begin the conquest of Planet Rhaegar's principle hive city.  Our forces had to contend with minefields, tank traps, and barricades.  An armored spearhead, followed by infantry, delivered a glorious victory!  Elements of the Uradeln 21st Regiment, the Night Hawks Space Marines, and the Vostok 19th Regiment participated.  The Uradelns lost 11 Guardsmen, 1 Leman Russ, and 1 Hellhound (a flamethrower tank).  The Night Hawks lost 6 Space Marines and the Vostok lost 1 Leman Russ and 1 Vendetta gunship was damaged and later repaired after the battle.  We killed over 90 Traitor Rhaegar PDF, 1 of their few Leman Russ tanks, and sent their remnants to flight!  The Traitors poured all of their reinforcements into their left flank because the Uradelns drove relentlessly into them and blasted them apart!  Additionally, once Night Hawks Assault Marines took the Communications Tower on Hill 17 they eliminated the scrambling code and their ships sent down a massive orbital bombardment that annihilated many of the Traitors that the Uradelns were facing.

23 July 2011: Breaching The Dragon Gate of Hive Targaryen

23 July 2011:  Colonel Sir Zeller personally led the Uradeln 21st Regiment to a Glorious Victory in securing entrance to Hive Targaryen by blasting through The Dragon Gate in the northeastern sector of planet Rhaegar’s principle hive city.  The mighty gate, built long ago in The Dark Age of Technology, withstood heavy punishment before finally collapsing under the guns of no less than our Regiment’s Super Heavy Tank, the Malleus ira Dei, as well as from the guns of numerous Leman Russ Battle Tanks and Basilisk artillery pieces from the Uradeln 21st and the Vostok 19th.  The venerable Malleus ira Dei led a mighty armored spearhead, crushing the puny tank traps that had been thrown up by the cowardly PDF(Planetary Defense Forces) troopers who now fight for The Enemy.  A strike force of Imperial Space Marines from the Blood Angels Chapter also took part in the assault, using their jump packs to leap over the city walls and assault the vile traitors.  Their vanguard elements penetrated deep into the outer city blocks where they discovered and killed five Chaos Space Marines of the Black Legion who had been manning one of the wretched AA guns that laid low our Vendettas and Valkyrie.  If there were more Black Legionnaires in the vicinity, they must have fled ahead of our victorious forces.  The traitor PDF commander kept feeding squads of reinforcements into the meat-grinder, determined to stop us at the gate, but the Malleus ira Dei blasted the traitors into oblivion as she emerged, wounded but vital, through the wreckage of The Dragon Gate, and into Targaryen Hive.

Cleaning up planet Scelus and moving on to planet Rhaegar

24 June, 1 July, 4 July 2011:  The mighty and righteous Uradeln 21st Regiment crushed the last of the enemy forces on planet Scelus in battles on the 24th and the 1st.  First, the last of the cultists were annihilated in a woodland battle.  The following week, the last of the Traitor Black Legion on Scelus were hunted down and slain within an urban ruin.
As soon as victory was achieved, the Uradeln 21st began boarding Imperial Navy transport.  Their destination is very near: planet Rhaegar.  The 13th Black Crusade of Abbaddon the Despoiler has engulfed Rhaegar.  The hive world has largely fallen to Chaos following an uprising of cultists of Khorne who were native to the planet.  They have been joined by a small number of Chaos Space Marines from the Black Legion, who typically assume individual leadership of groups of cultists.  Unfortunately, a large portion of the Rhaegar Planetary Defense Force, the PDF, have also turned traitor, taking whatever war machines they had with them over to the enemy camp.  Rhaegar, like Scelus, is very near the Eye of Terror, where Warpspace meets real space and where the Forces of Chaos hide.
On 4 July, the Forces of the Imperium began the reclamation of Rhaegar by landing Imperial Guard reinforcements to aid the beleaguered and greatly diminished loyal Rhaegar PDF, who still hold out within districts of some of the Hive cities.  Elements of the Sons of Sajuuk Space Marine Chapter cleared a landing zone by knocking out anti-air defenses in a strongpoint in the eastern hemisphere, near Targaryen Hive, which is the principal Hive city on Rhaegar.  The Uradeln 21st is even now on its way to Targaryen Hive and other Imperial forces have already begun landing in the vicinity.  This includes a full company of the Sons of Sajuuk, a half company of Blood Angels, half a company of the Order of the Lady Adeptus Sororitas, one battalion of the Vostok 19th Imperial Guard, and rumor has it that a handful of stormtroopers from the Caladan 101st have arrived, and they usually accompany a certain Inquisitor…

17 June 2011: Just as Planned!

17 June 2011:  The brilliant Captain Easterling, commander of Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, has duped the Eldar foe!  Faced with three separate Eldar factions, each led by a Farseer, which is a powerful psyker, our maverick Captain convinced one Farseer to defect.  Thus did he use the Xenos warriors against each other and during the course of the battle our brave soldiers assassinated the other two Eldar Farseers, inflicted crippling casualties upon the Xenos scum, and ensured that the Eldar defectors suffered massive casualties so that at battle’s end the few allied Xenos survivors could be taken prisoner!  2nd Platoon (HUG) suffered over 60% casualties to Eldar shooting and flamer weapons before being assaulted by jetbikes.  They slugged it out and eventually defeated that foe before being finished off by still more enemy forces.  Commissar Vona, who was the lone survivor of 2nd Platoon (HUG) received the Wound Badge 3rd Class.  Troopers Gotred and Felix, a Lascannon team, were awarded the Valour Medal 3rd Class.  The pair came under enemy fire and the rest of their squad was killed, but they stuck it out and brought down the Eldar Walkers, blew up an Eldar transport tank – killing three nearby Xenos warriors and exposing the second enemy Farseer to die – and rushed a ruined building where the allied Eldar Farseer and his warriors were locked in a swirling melee with enemy Guardian squad.  Once the enemy saw their cannon they fled and this action proved pivotal.  The allied Farseer, the only one of the three left alive, had been wounded and was easily captured, along with the pitifully few remaining Eldar forces.

4 and 10 June 2011: The Scelus Warp Storms are lifted

4 and 10 June 2011:  Wonderful news!  The Warp Storms around Planet Scelus have abated and the Uradeln 21st Regiment, as well as allied Imperial Guard regiments and Space Marines, are alive and well.  Piratical Eldar raiders must have been waiting for the end of the Warp Storms around Planet Scelus because as soon as they lifted the foul Xenos struck.  The raiders were checked by the stalwart men of Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion, under Captain Kipton Burba.  Their flimsy vehicles, while fast, were cut apart like paper Mache by our disciplined weapons fire.  As a result, they could not hit 1st Platoon (HUG), under Lieutenant Stiner, in sufficient numbers and we ground them down.  The men were inspired by the personal example of the resolute Commissar Medovich and fought heroically even though they sustained heavy casualties.  1st Platoon, A Co, 3rd Battalion has been awarded the Valour Medal 3rd Class as a Unit Award.
On the 10th the Xenos raiders struck again, this time in conjunction with the Black Legion, and we won a glorious victory over the enemies of Mankind!  Whether or not these two enemies of the Imperium were working together or if they just happened to both be going after the same target is uncertain.  Nevertheless, the brave Uradelns of 1st Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, under Lieutenant Werdehausen, who were on a patrol, dealt heavy casualties to the enemy, particularly to the Eldar skimmers.  Our allies, Space Marines in grey livery from an unknown chapter, were able to drive the Black Legion Chaos Space Marines away from a critical bridge after the brave sacrifice of Commissar Fortier (Valour Medal 3rd Class, Posthumous) and 1st Platoon (HUG), who held them off long enough for the Terminators to arrive from orbit.
