12 August 2011

12 August 2011:  Glorious victory for Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, under Captain Ratliff!  While pursuing a villainous traitor north of Targaryen Hive, the Uradelns located an enemy defector working his way to Imperial lines.  Chagrined at this, the Enemy launched a brutal attack to both slay him and protect the traitor!  The battle opened with Chaos Sorcerers conjuring up devious Warp rifts close to Imperial lines to allow their Warp Spawns to close into melee range quickly.  Seeing this, Captain Ratliff ordered a brilliant counter-attack, the 'Red Queen,' and another vendetta supporting the attack moved up and deployed Bravo's veterans, while 1st Platoon HUG, under Commissar Raege advanced at full pace. Both Warp rifts were shut down, with only a single unit of Spawn able to slip through.  These Warp freaks were swiftly crushed under Imperial boots!  With their devious plans thwarted, the enemy had no choice but to attack Bravo through the outlying settlements.  Their march, unorganized and slow, was subjected to relentless bombardment from Bravo's Masters of Ordinance and the near legendary 'Roaring Ovation.' Their monsters and brutal close combat elites managed to reach the lines in strength, but heavy weapons and 2nd Platoon HUG HW slaughtered them in a vicious melee!  After a lascannon barrage that reduced a vehicle to a smoking heap, Captain Ratliff spotted the traitor crawling from the wreckage. With a word, a second Lascannon team spread him across twenty meters of rockcrete. The only losses of the battle were a number of Bravo veterans who had heroically given their lives to close the rifts, and the vendetta 'Sacred Duty,' whose wing was sheared off by Warp energies just after depositing its veterans.

Captain Nathaniel Ratliff has now been promoted to the rank of Major and Colonel Sir Zeller has requested the Departmento Munitorum that Major Ratliff be awarded The Macharian Cross for his numerous displays of tactical and strategic brilliance over the course of many campaigns!
